Matilda FoodTech, the Swedish software provider for the foodservice industry, has acquired Dutch market leader PS in Foodservice. Backed by Scandinavian investment firm Monterro, the deal marks a new phase in which both companies will build a powerful, scalable European platform for foodservice product information — with sustainability and transparency at its core.
Founded by Gerard Sterkenburg, PS in Foodservice has grown over 16 years into the Netherlands’ central specification database for foodservice, indexing over 320,000 products and becoming the market standard in product and supply chain information. The company recently launched the PS Impact Score, enabling customers to compare the environmental impact of products across the chain.
Matilda FoodTech’s acquisition supports its continued expansion in Europe and adds critical capabilities to its full-stack platform, which connects procurement, planning, production, serving, and follow-up across healthcare, education, and professional kitchens.
Gerard Sterkenburg, Founder of PS in Foodservice:
“It’s been a remarkable journey, full of trial and error, especially in the early years. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together as a team. The launch of the PS Impact Score marks a major step in enabling the industry to act on sustainability. I’ve always believed in a European approach — it simplifies and strengthens the chain. That’s why I’m handing over to Matilda with full confidence.”
Erik Bergseth, CEO of Matilda FoodTech:
“With this acquisition, we create opportunities to expand our offering for customers in the European foodservice market.”
The current PS in Foodservice management team — Louise van Es (Commercial), Phylicia Kaldenhoven (Operations), and Martin Siepkes (Product & ICT) — will continue to lead daily operations and product development to ensure continuity for customers and partners.
